| As you are aware, seminars were conducted on May 17th and 18th to inform CME's member firm community about our new Applications Programming Interface (API), called GUS-MQM. This notice reiterates the features of the new API and information about several GUS on-line screen changes. The revised implementation date for both is now Monday, June 4, 2001. New GUS-MQM Functionality GUS-MQM is an alternative to the on-line GUS screens, which had been requested by a number of member firms over the last several months. Firms can now allocate, release, reject, change and reverse GUS trades by sending TREX messages to CME. TREX confirmation records are then sent back to firms for bookkeeping purposes. NOTE: The only transaction not supported at this time via GUS-MQM is "Sub-allocation" processing. Sub-allocations can only be done on GUS and will continue to be sent to firms in the RJE file.
Receipt of TREX Confirms Only For those firms that would prefer not to use GUS-MQM, but want to receive TREX confirm messages for bookkeeping, (instead of RJE files), this option will also be available beginning June 1st . Firms will be able to select the types of TREX confirm messages they want to receive via the new FIRM MQ MESSAGE CONTROL SCREEN that's described on the next page. Additionally, special MQM queues can be set up for those firm that want to segregate their GUS confirms from all other MQM confirm messages. Description of GUS On-Line Changes In conjunction with the GUS-MQM implementation, the following screen changes will be implemented that will enable give-up staff to: - View historical give-up trades up to T+2 days.
- Mark a give-up trade using the new ieReversall. Command without having to use the Memoadd function
- Third party give-ups can be done without having to Memoadd the trade
Please refer to the attached GUS screen documentation for more detail. Eligible Firms For June 4, 2001 Launch/Certification Process On June 4, 2001, only the Beta firms that had previously tested GUS-MQM will be moved into production. Prior to using either of the two GUS- MQM alternatives, Back Office Managers must complete the attached Certification Form. Upon receipt of the completed form, a certification process will take one-two weeks to make firms production-ready. Firm Back-Office Management Decision Firm management should determine which GUS-MQM option they would like to pursue in the next few weeks. Once the MQM-GUS Form is completed, and the certification process finalized, firm back-office management should address the new procedures with their give-up staff. This should include a session on completing the new FIRM MQ MESSAGE CONTROL screen to define the types of TREX confirms your firm would like to receive for bookkeeping purposes. If you have any questions regarding the new GUS-MQM, or ongoing GUS classroom training and member firm testing, please call Farris Oweimrin at (312) 648-4780 or email at foweimri@cme.com. Thank you!
